The Lake District is home to iconic lakes, as well as smaller tarns and vital rivers. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the region’s waterways hold immense ecological significance.
The Lake District National Park provides 40% of the drinking water for the North West of England every day of the year.Â
Phosphorus levels threaten ecosystems, putting lakes and rivers at risk from harmful algal blooms and non-native invasive species. By taking proactive measures now we can help to prevent further degradation of water quality. Investment will help us deliver solutions to have an immediate impact on water quality in our lakes.  [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Back to Business Investments >>[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Big Windermere Survey
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Windermere is an iconic lake of significant ecological importance and is the centrepiece of the UNESCO Lake District World Heritage site. Water quality in Windemere is under threat from a high-level nutrient inputs and bacterial pollution. There is a need to generate ongoing data to increase scientific understanding of water quality at Windermere and support the development of initiatives to improve the condition of the lake.Â
