Connecting Communities with the Coast to Coast Path National Trail

There are thousands of miles of designated National Trails in England and Wales. These long-distant footpaths and bridleways take in some of the most stunning landscapes in the country. We’re excited to be working with Natural England ahead of the opening of a new National Trail.

Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Path passes through the Lake District, North York Moors, and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The 197-mile route is currently being developed into a National Trail, set to open Spring 2026.

The Coast to Coast Path National Trail will pass through many communities including St Bees, Ennerdale Bridge, Rosthwaite, Grasmere, Patterdale, Shap, Kirkby Stephen, Keld, Reeth, Richmond, Ingleby Cross, Clay Bank Top, Glaisdale, and Robin Hood’s Bay.

We believe the trail should be an asset to people who live and work nearby.

The Lake District Foundation has been commissioned by Natural England to develop a trail management action plan, with local communities at its heart and we want to hear from YOU!

Through our community and business online survey we want to hear how you feel about, and how you want to be involved with 14 topics ranging from volunteering opportunities to branding and waymarking.

If you require the survey in another format, please get in touch.

If you would like to chat with us please contact us on [email protected] or 07497816091

This is your chance to help ensure that the Coast to CoastPath National Trail (C2CPNT) becomes a shared community asset that delivers environmental, social, cultural, and economic value, now and into the futureIf you have any questions about the project, please contact [email protected]
