Cleaner Lakes campaign
All money raised through ‘Going for Gold with Hector’ will go towards projects that improve the water quality of the Lake District’s bodies of water. One project that will be supported is the Big Windermere Survey, a pioneering citizen science project that gives us a broader understanding of the life of the lake. The Lake District Foundation has supported this project since it was established and we find the results of the survey to be invaluable for developing cleaner water interventions.

Terms & Conditions
Gambling Act 2005: Licensed under the Small Societies Lotteries Registration #SL043821. Issued by Westmorland & Furness Council on 10/10/2023.
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “The Promoter” refers to Lake District Foundation. The “Prize” refers to full prize bundle details above.
By entering the competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. All entries must be received by 5am on Friday 9th August 2024. One (1) winner in Great Britain will be selected by The Promoter on Friday 9th August 2024 and will receive the full prize bundle. No cash alternative is available.
The one winner is the person who selects the time closest to Hector Pardoe’s official Olympic finish time at the men’s 10,000m swim on Friday 9th August 2024 in Paris.
If the time is between seconds:
- Where the time is equal to or less than 0.49 of a second above the closest second (e.g. 10:21:21) the time will be rounded down (the winner would be 10:21).
- Where the time is more than 0.50 of a second above the closest second (e.g. 10:21:68) the time will be rounded up (the winner would be 10:22).
In the event that Hector Pardoe has to withdraw, whether during or prior to the race, (“DNF”) all entries will be treated with equal weight and entered into a random draw. A number generator will select the single winner at random.
Prizes may be sent in seperate deliveries.
Entrants must be over 18 years old on the date of their entry.
Employees of The Promoter are not eligible to enter.
No social media companies are affiliated or involved in the competition.
Up to five entries per person per competition will be accepted.
Each entry costs £10, up to a maximum of 5 entries (£50). All monies generated will be used by the Lake District Foundation towards cleaner water campaigns and projects in and around the Lake District National Park.
The Promoter will not be held liable for any failure of receipt of entries. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any entries which are lost, delayed, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Promoter’s liability under or in connection with the competition or these terms and conditions shall be limited to the cost price of the Prize in question.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Promoter shall not be liable under or in connection with these terms and conditions, the competition or any Prize for any indirect, special or consequential cost, expense, loss or damage suffered by a participant even if such cost, expense, loss or damage was reasonably foreseeable or might reasonably have been contemplated by the participant and the promoter and whether arising from breach of contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise.
Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative is available. Where a Prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the promoter reserves the right to substitute that prize for a prize of equal or higher value.
The name, address, email address and phone number of the winner must be provided to The Promoter if requested and will be shared to enable fulfillment of the Prize.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond The Promoter’s reasonable control, the promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition or these terms and conditions, either in whole or in part, with or without notice.
The Promoter’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
The winners’ name may be posted on the social media profiles of The Promotor after the winner has been selected.
